Anthony, Miller lead Nuggets to third straight win

Nov 15, 2006 - 3:22 AM MIAMI (Ticker) -- Carmelo Anthony and the Denver Nuggets are enjoying their East Coast swing.

Anthony scored 33 points and Andre Miller added a season-high 29, 10 assists and eight rebounds as the Nuggets won their third straight game with a 112-105 victory over the shorthanded Miami Heat, who wasted a huge performance by Dwyane Wade.

After dropping the first three games of the season, Denver has won three straight to begin its four-game road trip. Anthony is averaging 33 points per game during this streak.

"A week ago the media had us buried, now we're good," Denver coach George Karl said. "I'm not going to say that when we lost that third game that I thought we were going to come in here and win, but I didn't think we were that far away from winning."

"We're keeping it rolling now," Anthony said. "If we can keep our momentum going for the rest of this road trip, if we can get all four of these games, then we've done our job."

Miller drained a jumper and fed Anthony for a two-handed alley-oop jam to cap an impressive 13-2 surge with 6:20 remaining as the Nuggets built a 95-85 advantage.

"He (Miller) had a huge night. He's really picked up his game over the last year and a half, but (Tuesday) he was huge," Heat coach Pat Riley said. "He was driving, he was making plays and making jumpers."

Wade finished with a season-best 37 points, 11 rebounds and eight assists. It was the third time he has eclipse the 30-point plateau this season.

"There are no excuses," Wade said. "Whoever is on the floor has to go out there and win ballgames."

Marcus Camby had 15 points, 11 rebounds and four blocks for the Nuggets, who shot 45 percent (40-of-89) from the field and won their last three meetings against the Heat. Antoine Walker scored 22 points before fouling out late in the fourth period for Miami, which shot 44 percent (34-of-77) and was outscored, 54-36, in the paint.

The Heat were without center Shaquille O'Neal, who sat out with a bruised left knee suffered in Sunday's loss vs. Houston. He has missed three games this season and is listed as day-to-day.

In the first quarter, J.R. Smith's alley-oop to Anthony gave Denver a commanding 19-4 lead with just over five minutes left. The 6-8 Anthony scored eight points in the run.
