Knicks look for first home win vs. Wizards

Nov 15, 2006 - 3:34 PM Washington (2-6) at New York (3-3) 7:30 pm EST

NEW YORK (Ticker) - Madison Square Garden is one of the best home courts in the NBA. The New York Knicks aren't taking advantage of it.

Winless at home, the Knicks will look to snap a three-game losing streak when they take on the Washington Wizards, who have yet to win on the road.

Nate Robinson scored a season-high 19 points and Channing Frye chipped in 17 for New York, which shot 48 percent (39-of-80) and fell to 0-3 at The Garden this season with a 102-96 loss to the Cleveland Cavaliers.

The Knicks are the only Eastern Conference team without a home win after finishing last season with just 15 victories on their home floor.

Reserve Jamal Crawford nailed a deep 3-pointer from near mid-court as the shot-clock expired and scored on a fast break two-handed jam over Larry Hughes with 1:43 remaining to cut the New York's deficit to 95-94.

The Knicks used an impressive 15-3 surge, cutting a double-digit deficit to 84-83 with just over six minutes remaining. Crawford scored seven of his 18 points in the run.

However, much like their previous home losses, New York fell short down the stretch. The Knicks used impressive second-half runs against Indiana and San Antonio in their first two home contests, but failed to notch a victory at The World's Most Famous Arena.

The Wizards also fell short after an impressive rally on Sunday. Washington was led offensively by Gilbert Arenas, who scored 25 points but made just 6-of-23 shots. Antawn Jamison struggled, making only 3-of-16 shots en route to nine points in a 105-93 overtime loss to the New Jersey Nets.

Caron Butler was the Wizards' best offensive option in the second half and overtime, when he scored all of his 17 points. Washington rallied from a 50-36 halftime deficit and trailed by as many as 16 points as their two-game winning streak came to an end.

The Wizards won three of their four meetings with the Knicks last season.
