Wizards go for fourth straight win over Pistons
Nov 17, 2006 - 2:32 PM Washington (3-4) at Detroit (3-5) 8:00 pm ESTAUBURN HILLS, Michigan (Ticker) - The Washington Wizards aim for their fourth consecutive victory over the Detroit Pistons on Friday.
The Wizards swept all three meetings with the Pistons last season. Washington won by an average of 13.3 points while Gilbert Arenas and Caron Butler both averaged more than 30 points.
However, the Wizards are in the midst of a two-game funk after a 102-82 loss to the New York Knicks on Wednesday. Arenas scored 22 points but shot just 5-of-19 from the field and Antawn Jamison added 20 for Washington, which shot just 32 percent (23-of-73).
Detroit is coming off an even tougher loss, a 100-99 shortcoming to the New Orleans Hornets on Wednesday.
Hornets rookie Hilton Armstrong made his first free throw with three seconds left before tapping his second miss away from Pistons guard Chauncey Billups, allowing the remaining time to run off the clock.
Billups scored 29 points and handed out nine assists and Richard Hamilton added 23 for the Pistons, who dropped their second consecutive decision.
No one has shouted yet.
