Stoudemire, Suns aim for first winning streak of 2006-07

Nov 17, 2006 - 2:45 PM Philadelphia (4-3) at Phoenix (2-5) 10:30 pm EST

PHOENIX (Ticker) - Amare Stoudemire and the Phoenix Suns finally looked like themselves on Saturday. They will try to clone that performance Friday when they hook up with the Philadelphia 76ers in an interconference matchup.

The Suns snapped a four-game losing streak with Saturday's 96-87 victory over Memphis. Stoudemire put together his most complete effort of the season, scoring 25 points on 10-of-14 shooting and adding 14 points and two blocks.

Shawn Marion contributed 17 points and nine rebounds and Leandro Barbosa 16 points and 12 assists for Phoenix, which delivered a surprisingly strong defensive performance. The Suns, who had surrendered at least 104 points in their first six games, held the Grizzlies to 40 percent (31-of-76) shooting and forced 18 turnovers.

The 76ers also snapped a losing streak their last time out, ending a three-game slide with a 96-90 triumph at Seattle on Wednesday.

Allen Iverson had 28 points but shot just 6-of-22 from the field. Samuel Dalembert chipped in 12 points and four blocks and Andre Iguodala collected 12 points, nine assists, eight rebounds and three steals.

Philadelphia has lost three straight to Phoenix and seven of the last eight meetings. The Suns won both matchups last season by a combined 44 points.
