The Hornets kept their run alive by edging the Detroit Pistons, 100-99, on Wednesday. Rookie Hilton Armstrong, who scored 17 points, made the decisive free throw with three seconds left and tipped his following miss away from Chauncey Billups, allowing time to expire.
Chris Paul collected 20 points and 13 assists and Peja Stojakovic added 14 points for the Hornets, who had a 44-35 advantage in rebounds.
The Wolves absorbed their fifth loss in six outings, a 92-76 setback to the Cleveland Cavaliers on Friday.
Kevin Garnett finished with 14 points and 11 rebounds and rookie Craig Smith added 12 and 10 for Minnesota, which shot just 38 percent (28-of-73) overall.
