Jazz eye season-high fifth straight win

Nov 18, 2006 - 5:07 PM Phoenix (3-5) at Utah (8-1) 9:00 pm EST

SALT LAKE CITY (Ticker) -- The Utah Jazz go for their season-best fifth straight victory when they host the Phoenix Suns on Saturday.

The Jazz equaled their season-high four-game winning streak with a 118-109 victory over the Seattle SuperSonics on Friday. Deron Williams scored 27 points - one shy of his career high - and handed out eight assists and Matt Harpring added 21 off the bench for Utah, which is off to its best start since the 1998-99 campaign.

Mehmet Okur had 15 points and 11 rebounds and Carlos Boozer followed with 14 and 13 for the Jazz, who dominated the glass, 47-27, including a 19-5 edge on the offensive end.

Utah started the season with four straight wins, which included a 108-104 comeback victory over Phoenix on October 3. The Jazz finished the game on a 13-3 run, erasing a late deficit.

That was the beginning of a four-game slide for the Suns, but they have won their last two games - most recently a 106-94 triumph over the Philadelphia 76ers on Friday.

Leandro Barbosa collected 26 points and 10 rebounds and Amare Stoudemire added 23 and 10 for Phoenix, which was without Steve Nash. The two-time MVP suffered from back spasms prior to the start of the game.
