We have two Game 6s where the road team has the chance to close out the series. To do that, they’ll need to break a cycle as the road team has not won a road game in this series. Which one of these road teams has a legitimate shot at winning tonight and closing out the series?

CTAs

Miami Heat vs. Philadelphia 76ers (-2) O/U 207

(Tip-Off 7 p.m. ET)

Just when you thought getting Joel Embiid back was what the Sixers needed to make a push in this series, the Heat come in and give them the burn.

Philadelphia was flat from the tipoff till the final buzzer. The Miami shooting that was cold in the last two games was hot as they were 53.6% from the floor and 39.4% from beyond the arc.

Embiid, wearing a protective mask due to suffering a right orbital fracture and concussion, fell to the floor during the game and stayed there, grabbing his face after a rebound attempt. He admitted he’s playing through the pain, but you have to wonder how effective he can be and who will step up for this team.

The Heat got back to playing their style defense that was top five in the league this year. They continually applied pressure on whoever had the ball as they won the turnover margin and were more physical on the boards.

The Philly interior defense that had done well the previous two games was wholly exposed. They allowed 46.5 points per game in the paint this year, but in Game 5, they allowed 56 points and a -20 differential.

Good teams make adjustments, and that’s what the Heat did. They fixed up the defense and got contributions from the starters through the bench. While the Sixers should play much better at home, the Heat looks like they figured it out and should seal up the series tonight.

Leg 1: Heat +2

Phoenix Suns (-2) vs. Dallas Mavericks O/U 212

(Tip-Off 9:30 p.m. ET)

The Suns’ defense that had been non-existent in Dallas woke up and kept the Mavs quiet in Game 5. Phoenix could not stop the perimeter shooting in Games 3 & 4 by allowing 33 threes in those two games and 15.5 three-pointers per game, but they held them to just eight in Game 5 at 25% shooting. The defensive pressure that was missing in the previous game came back, and they need to continue to force Dallas to take bad shots.

The Devin Booker and Luka Doncic rivalry is becoming fun to watch and could be one we’ll see for years to come. These premier guards look like they have a general disdain for each other, and it’s fine as it drives them each to excel. Both led their team in Game 5 with 28 points — Booker is averaging 26.8 in the series while Luka has 32. These guys need to be at their best in a big Game 6.

On Tuesday, the Suns’ defense looked good, and even Luka shot just10-for-23. Phoenix just needs to be as good as Dallas on the perimeter as the Mavericks’ smaller lineup gives the Suns the significant advantage inside. They’ll win in the paint and the perimeter to close out this series.

Leg 2: Suns -2
