Top 3 NBA Summer League Betting Odds & Pick for Thursday (7/14)

The NBA Summer League has been extremely fun. We’re finding some legitimate gems in this league who could turn into stars at the next level. You just never know!

I’ve compiled my three favorite bets for tonight’s slate in the Summer League. Let’s make some profit on basketball in the summer!

Chicago Bulls vs. Charlotte Hornets

The Charlotte Hornets are pretty deep in the Summer League. Nick Richards didn’t play in their last game, but the Hornets still defeated the Cleveland Cavaliers 91-80.

The Hornets are now 2-1 on the season and have received incredible contributions from Bryce McGowens. Against the Cavaliers, McGowens took just 10 shots and nailed seven of them on his way to 24 points in the win. Mark Williams added 12 points and eight rebounds in under 20 minutes, and the bench behind Kai Jones, Brady Manek and LiAngelo Ball all added double figures in the win.

Meanwhile, the Bulls looked much better in their third game of the season after getting routed by the Knicks. The Bulls beat the Raptors, 93-83, with five players in double figures.

The Bulls are rotating players more, but Carlik Jones, who played 20 minutes of action, had a +/- of 22. The entire starting lineup had a double-digit +/- for the Bulls in that game. It was the bench that gave up a 12-point differential in 4.04 minutes of action.

Both of these teams are legitimate when it comes to scoring. Both have added two wins. While the Bulls had one bad game against the Knicks, I’m not going to worry about it too much.

Dallas Mavericks vs. Milwaukee Bucks

The Dallas Mavericks are 0-3 to start Summer League. However, they’ve had a couple of games that were winnable, as they lost two of three games by one point.

However, their latest game was against the Suns, where the Mavericks lost 105-78. Many “average” fans wouldn’t know much about this Mavericks roster. Against the Suns, the starting lineup was dreadful, as A.J. Lawson and Jaden Hardy both had a +/- of -29.

Jerrick Harding was the true bright spot on this team against the Suns, scoring 20 points while adding five assists and four rebounds. But even with that performance, the Mavericks had a point differential of six when he was on the floor.

On the other hand, the Bucks were a half-court heave away from being 3-0 to start Summer League. The Bucks lost to the Celtics on a three-pointer by Matt Ryan as time was almost expired. But overall, the Bucks are 2-1 and playing solid basketball.

Yesterday, the Bucks defeated the Timberwolves 87-75. Sandro Mamukelashvili was sensational with 18 points, and 15 rebounds, while MarJon Beauchamp added 15 points with six rebounds. As long as Mamukelashvili is in action, the Bucks will have the best player on the floor. Take the Bucks against the spread in this one.

Bet: Bucks -2.5 (-110 at DraftKings)

Brooklyn Nets vs. Minnesota Timberwolves

The Nets last played Tuesday and lost to the Grizzlies 120-84. That’s pretty embarrassing stuff. Brooklyn is the Cam Thomas show, which is fine. He’s the best scorer on the court, but this team plays no defense and shot under 40% from the field against Memphis. Meanwhile, Memphis shot 59% in that game.

The Timberwolves have lacked offense in their last two games. But they’re also the team that allowed Mamukelashvili to go off offensively.

Therefore, I’m taking the over. Both defenses should end up struggling in this one.
