76ers will be without Iverson in meeting with Pistons

Nov 21, 2006 - 1:38 PM Detroit (5-5) at Philadelphia (4-5) 7:00 pm EST

PHILADELPHIA (Ticker) -- In a return home following a three-game West Coast swing, the Philadelphia 76ers will be without superstar guard Allen Iverson on Tuesday night when they take on the Detroit Pistons.

Iverson developed an abscessed wisdom tooth during the road trip and played through it for two games before having successful oral surgery to remove the tooth Tuesday afternoon.

The four-time scoring champion will sit out Tuesday's game. His status for Wednesday night's game at Milwaukee is undetermined.

Iverson had 29 points and nine assists in Saturday's 103-97 loss to the Los Angeles Clippers that completed a 1-2 trip and dealt the Sixers their fifth loss in six games following a 3-0 start. Forward Chris Webber did not play in that contest due to a sore back.

As the Pistons arrive in the City of Brotherly Love, two team members will be enjoying a homecoming of sorts. One is guard Richard Hamilton, a native of Coatesville who will be trying to give Detroit its season-high third straight win.

Hamilton has led the Pistons in scoring in the last two games, averaging 28.5 points. He scored a season-high 30 points Saturday, when the Pistons established a season best for points in a 104-92 triumph against Houston.

Philadelphia native Rasheed Wallace scored 15 points in the win over Houston.

The Pistons seek their fourth straight win in the series and the ninth in the last 10 meetings.
