Nuggets' Anthony seeks seventh straight 30-point game

Nov 21, 2006 - 1:49 PM Chicago (3-7) at Denver (4-4) 9:00 pm EST

DENVER (Ticker) - Carmelo Anthony may only be 22 years old. But this month, he has consistently been 30-something.

Anthony tries to break the Denver Nuggets' franchise record for consecutive 30-point games Tuesday when he faces the reeling Chicago Bulls.

In his last six games, Anthony has scored at least 31 points and is averaging 34.2 points. He also has had at least two steals in each of the contests, leading Denver to a 4-2 mark during his hot stretch.

Anthony, whose run is tied with Alex English (1982-83) for the longest in Nuggets history, scored 34 points on Saturday as the Nuggets captured a 117-109 triumph against Toronto. He made 10-of-18 shots from the field and all 11 of his free throws, adding a season-high eight rebounds.

J.R. Smith contributed 16 points and Andre Miller added 14 for Denver, which has won four of five since losing its first three contests.

Meanwhile, Chicago has lost the first four games of its seven-game road trip. The Bulls had their worst offensive night of the season in Sunday's 82-72 defeat to the Los Angeles Lakers, as they shot just 33 percent (27-of-80) and committed 17 turnovers.

Andres Nocioni scored a career-high 30 points and Luol Deng added 13, but Ben Gordon, Kirk Hinrich and Chris Duhon combined for just 13 points on 4-of-21 shooting.
