Pistons try to extend season-high winning streak
Nov 22, 2006 - 2:04 PM Atlanta (4-4) at Detroit (6-5) 7:30 pm ESTAUBURN HILLS, Michigan (Ticker) - The Detroit Pistons go for their season-high fourth straight victory when they host the Atlanta Hawks on Wednesday.
After a somewhat inconsistent start, the Pistons finally have been able to string together more than two wins in a row. They extended their winning streak to three following a 97-87 triumph over the Philadelphia 76ers on Tuesday.
Tayshaun Prince scored 25 points and Rasheed Wallace added 21, 11 rebounds and three blocks for Detroit, which shot 50 percent (36-of-72) from the field. Richard Hamilton had 16 points and Chauncey Billups added 11 and 11 assists for the Pistons, who made nine 3-pointers.
Meanwhile, the Hawks have gone in the opposite direction, dropping their season-worst third straight contest after a four-game winning streak.
Joe Johnson collected 22 points and eight rebounds and Josh Smith added 16, 13 and four blocks, but Atlanta fell, 93-88, to Miami on Saturday. Tyronn Lue had 13 points off the bench and Zaza Pachulia finished with 12 and 11 boards for the Hawks, who made just 3-of-24 shots from the arc.
Detroit took three of its four meetings with Atlanta last season.
