Heat hoping to end struggles in San Antonio
Nov 22, 2006 - 2:06 PM Miami (4-5) at San Antonio (9-2) 7:30 pm ESTSAN ANTONIO (Ticker) - The Miami Heat have not enjoyed their trips to San Antonio over the years.
The Heat try to post a rare road victory against the Spurs when the last two NBA champions square off Wednesday night.
Miami has won just once in 19 all-time contests in San Antonio, including eight consecutive defeats. The Spurs posted a 98-84 victory over the Heat the last time the teams met here on December 7 as Tim Duncan collected 28 points and 16 rebounds and Manu Ginobili scored 27 points.
San Antonio is coming off its third straight win, a 107-98 triumph against Portland on Monday as Duncan and Ginobili both scored 25 points. Tony Parker chipped in 14 points for the Spurs, who improved to 6-0 on the road and 7-0 when they score at least 100 points.
Miami doesn't have much to brag about these days, having lost four of its last five games following Tuesday's 101-86 setback to New Orleans. Dwyane Wade scored 29 points and Dorell Wright contributed 10 points and 12 rebounds for the Heat, who shot under 37 percent (32-of-87) and made just 4-of-22 shots from the arc.
The Heat will be without star center Shaquille O'Neal for at least three more weeks as the former MVP recovers from knee surgery.
No one has shouted yet.
