Iverson's status unclear for 76ers' game at Milwaukee

Nov 22, 2006 - 2:07 PM Philadelphia (4-6) at Milwaukee (3-8) 8:00 pm EST

MILWAUKEE (Ticker) - Allen Iverson leads the NBA with 43.3 minutes per game. When he plays zero, the Philadelphia 76ers usually are in for a world of hurt.

The 76ers are hoping Iverson can return to the lineup Wednesday when they take on the Milwaukee Bucks in a matchup of struggling teams.

Philadelphia lost for the sixth time in seven games Tuesday, absorbing a 97-87 defeat to Detroit despite a season-high 24 points from Willie Green. He was forced to pick up the slack as the 76ers were without Iverson, who had an abscessed wisdom tooth removed earlier in the day, and also Chris Webber, who sat out with a lower back injury.

Kyle Korver and Andre Iguodala contributed 13 points apiece for Philadelphia, which shot under 40 percent (30-of-76) and committed 14 turnovers.

The 76ers will try to get back on track against a Bucks team that won three of the four matchups last season.

Milwaukee also isn't playing well, however, having dropped seven of its last eight contests, including Tuesday's 93-88 loss to Indiana. Mo Williams had 22 points and nine assists and Michael Redd added 21 for the Bucks, who surrendered the final 14 points.

The league's second-leading scorer entering the night, Redd made just 9-of-24 shots and committed five of the Bucks' 16 turnovers. He also did not have a single rebound in 44 minutes.
