Markelle Fultz has suffered a fractured toe and will be out indefinitely, the Orlando Magic announced Sunday morning.

Fultz sustained the injury during a preseason workout before returning to Orlando.

He will not undergo surgery but has been placed in a walking boot. A timeframe for his return has not been provided, with the Magic saying it will depend on how Fultz responds to rehab and treatment.

Broken toes typically heal within four to six weeks, according to the Mayo Clinic.

Fultz missed the majority of last season while recovering from a torn ACL suffered in January of 2021. He played in 18 games, averaging 10.8 points, 5.5 assists and 2.7 rebounds in 20.0 minutes per game.

This was supposed to be Fultz’s first fully healthy offseason as the former No. 1 overall pick enters the sixth year of his career.

Training camp is set to begin on Tuesday. The Magic’s preseason opener is Oct. 3 against the Grizzles and their regular season opener is Oct. 19 against the Pistons.
