Cavaliers take on Pacers in divisional battle
Nov 24, 2006 - 4:07 PM Cleveland (8-4) at Indiana (6-6) 8:00 pm ESTINDIANAPOLIS (Ticker) - The Cleveland Cavaliers are one of the best teams in the Eastern Conference, but they don't like playing the league's worst squads.
On Friday, however, the Cavaliers will take on a tough division foe when they visit the Indiana Pacers.
One of just three Eastern Conference teams with a winning record, the Cavaliers have had problems with teams with losing records. Its first three losses were to Charlotte, Atlanta and Washington, all Southeast Division teams at .500 or worse.
On Wednesday, they lost, 95-87, to Toronto, which is last in the Atlantic Division. Zydrunas Ilgauskas and Damon Jones scored 12 points each for the Cavaliers, who shot under 40 percent (37-of-94) - including 5-of-25 from the arc - and made just 8-of-12 free throws.
The Pacers had a two-game winning streak snapped in a 96-91 loss to Orlando on Wednesday. Jermaine O'Neal had 23 points and 11 rebounds and Jamaal Tinsley scored 19 points in the defeat.
Cleveland has won its last three games against Indiana, but has been victorious only once in its last six trips to Indianapolis.
No one has shouted yet.
