Anthony, Nuggets seek home-and-home sweep of Warriors
Nov 24, 2006 - 4:39 PM Golden State (7-5) at Denver (6-4) 9:00 pm ESTDENVER (Ticker) - The Golden State Warriors look to avoid their first three-game skid of the season Friday when they conclude a home-and-home series against the Denver Nuggets.
Golden State has been one of the surprise success stories in the Western Conference in coach Don Nelson's return to the Bay Area. However, the Warriors do not want to mar that beginning with their second consecutive loss to the same opponent.
Carmelo Anthony had 33 points and nine rebounds and Andre Miller added 17 and 10 assists as Denver survived a late charge for a 115-112 triumph over the Warriors on Wednesday for its third straight win and sixth in seven contests.
The Nuggets led by as many as 11 points in the final period and still held a 115-106 advantage with 51 seconds remaining before Golden State made things interesting due in part to huge mistakes by Denver.
Marcus Camby had 17 points and 16 rebounds and Reggie Evans added nine and 14 for the Nuggets, who shot 49 percent (41-of-83) from the field and but made just 5-of-20 on 3-pointers.
Jason Richardson scored 24 points and Baron Davis chipped in 21 for the Warriors, who shot 45 percent (42-of-93) and forced 23 turnovers.
Golden State will be playing just its fourth road game of the season. The Warriors are 1-2 away from home and have lost five straight at Denver.
No one has shouted yet.
