Garnett, Timberwolves go for first three-game winning streak

Nov 25, 2006 - 2:46 PM LA Clippers (6-4) at Minnesota (5-6) 8:00 pm EST

MINNEAPOLIS (Ticker) -- Dwane Casey and the Minnesota Timberwolves may have finally put together a successful plan.

The upstart Timberwolves will try for their first three-game winning streak of the season on Saturday when the Los Angeles Clippers visit.

Ricky Davis scored 23 points and superstar Kevin Garnett contributed 18 and 16 rebounds for Minnesota, which posted an 86-79 victory over the New Orleans Hornets on Friday.

This matchup will feature two of the top forwards in the NBA with Garnett and fellow All-Star Elton Brand. Both rank among the league leaders in rebounds and double-doubles.

The Clippers enter with a two-game losing streak after dropping a 95-85 decision to the Seattle SuperSonics on Wednesday. Brand recorded a season-low seven points and 16 rebounds.

Chris Kaman has been finding his groove of late, collecting a double-double in each of Los Angeles' last two contests. He is averaging 8.2 points per game - a four-point difference from last year.

Los Angeles won the season series, 3-1, a year ago. It was the first time since the 1995-96 campaign that the Clippers were able to win the series. The versatile Garnett averaged 24 points vs. Los Angeles in 2005.
