Howard chipped in 29 points and grabbed 11 rebounds and Lee poured in 11 of his 13 points in the fourth quarter to lead the Orlando Magic to a 107-103 win over the Hawks at Philips Arena on Monday night.
Rashard Lewis scored 23 and Keith Bogans added 12 for Orlando (5-1), which split a pair of preseason games with Atlanta (4-3).
Lee, a rookie from Western Kentucky, had his best quarters as a pro in the fourth, connecting on 5-of-7 shots, including one from 3-point range to keep the Magic in the contest before Howard and Lewis took over.
The 6-foot-11 Howard, an Atlanta-native, gave Orlando a 104-100 lead with 54 seconds remaining before Atlanta's Joe Johnson cut the lead to one with a 3-pointer seven seconds later.
After the teams misfired on a pair of possessions, Howard split a pair of free throws to make it 105-103. Lewis connected on four free throws down the stretch to secure the win.
Johnson had 27 points and Ronald Murray added 14 for Atlanta, which finished its preseason slate at Philips Arena at 1-2.
Marvin Williams missed his third consecutive game with a sprained left thumb. Maurice Evans (upper lip laceration) and Mario West (sprained left knee) also did not dress for Atlanta. Speedy Claxton, who has yet to appear in a preseason game for the Hawks this season, was excused for personal reasons.
