Anthony returns when Nuggets host Lakers
Nov 1, 2008 - 10:43 AM LA Lakers (2-0) at Denver (1-1) 9:00 p.m. EDTDENVER (Ticker) -- After a thrilling victory, the Denver Nuggets are about to get another major boost.
Carmelo Anthony returns to the Nuggets on Saturday when they host the Los Angeles Lakers.
Allen Iverson scored 25 points, including six straight in overtime, as Denver overcame an 18-point halftime deficit, outlasting the Los Angeles Clippers to claim a 113-103 victory on Friday.
It was the first victory of the season for the Nuggets, who were without Anthony for the second straight game as the star forward finished up his two-game suspension handed down by the team for his driving under the influence arrest last spring.
The Nuggets played well in Anthony's absence despite dropping a 98-94 decision to the Utah Jazz in the season opener on Wednesday. However, the team is looking forward to the return of Anthony, who finished fourth in the NBA averaging 26.4 points per game last season.
The Lakers have looked spectacular in their first two games of the new campaign as they look to return to The Finals after being ousted in six games by the Boston Celtics in 2007-08.
Los Angeles opened the season with a 20-point victory against the Portland Trail Blazers on Tuesday before routing the Clippers, 117-79, the next night.
