Kings shoot for first win vs. 76ers
Nov 3, 2008 - 2:46 PM Sacramento (0-3) at Philadelphia (1-2) 7:00 pm. ESTPHILADELPHIA (Ticker) -- The Sacramento Kings look to pick up their first win of the season in the finale of a four-game road trip on Monday against the Philadelphia 76ers.
Sacramento will be glad to return home after a brutal trip that has included blowout losses to Miami and Orlando. The Kings were blasted by Miami, 103-77, on Friday.
One night later, Sacramento was dealt a 121-103 setback to the Magic. The good news was that guard Kevin Martin finally broke out. Martin, who led the Kings with an average of 23.7 points last season, scored 31 after being held to nine points on Friday.
Martin and the Kings will try to rebound against the 76ers, who let a big lead slip away in their last contest.
Philadelphia led by as many as 23 points on Saturday against Atlanta, but the Hawks closed the game with a 24-8 run en route to a 95-88 victory.
New Sixers forward Elton Brand is familiar with the Kings from his days with the Los Angeles Clippers. Brand, who signed a five-year, $82 million deal in the offseason, has averaged 20.3 points and 10.1 rebounds against Sacramento.
The teams split the season series, winning one game apiece last season.
