Kings hope to end slide against Grizzlies

Nov 5, 2008 - 3:03 PM Memphis (2-2) at Sacramento (0-4) 10:00 p.m. EST

SACRAMENTO, California (Ticker) -- After a disastrous start to the new campaign, the Sacramento Kings are likely relieved to be returning home.

The winless Kings try to snap a four-game losing streak when they host the Memphis Grizzlies on Wednesday.

Sacramento knew it was in for a rebuilding project this season with nine players on the roster having fewer than four years of NBA experience.

However, few could've envisioned a start this horrific as the Kings have lost the last three games by at least 18 points, including a 125-91 setback against the Philadelphia 76ers on Monday.

A home contest against the Grizzlies may be exactly what Sacramento needs to avoid an 0-5 start for the first time since 1990-91. The Kings haven't lost to Memphis at Arco Arena in its last 19 meetings dating to 1998.

Rookie Marc Gasol powered the Grizzlies to a 90-79 victory against the Golden State Warriors on Monday.

Gasol, who was acquired by Memphis in the trade that sent brother Pau to the Los Angeles Lakers last season, exploded for 27 points, 16 rebounds and three blocks, recording his second double-double.
