Without Iverson, Nuggets visit Warriors

Nov 5, 2008 - 3:24 PM Denver (1-2) at Golden State (1-3) 10:30 p.m. EST

OAKLAND, California (Ticker) -- The Denver Nuggets are ready to begin life after Allen Iverson.

The Nuggets will be without Iverson for the first time against the Golden State Warriors on Wednesday after trading the superstar guard to the Detroit Pistons.

A four-time league scoring champion, Iverson was dealt to the Pistons on Monday in exchange for point guard Chauncey Billups, veteran forward Antonio McDyess and center Cheikh Samb.

The 33-year-old Iverson spent parts of the last three seasons in Denver since being acquired in a multi-player deal with the Philadelphia 76ers in December 2006.

While Iverson is set to make his Pistons debut on Wednesday, Denver isn't expected to have two of its acquisitions in uniform against the Warriors.

Billups, who grew up in Denver and played for the Nuggets in parts of two years from 1998-2000, has yet to join his new teammates.

Denver is still debating McDyess' future and may elect to buy out the two years and $13.5 million remaining on the contract extension he signed with the Pistons over the offseason. If they elect that course of action, McDyess will become a free agent and could return to Detroit after 30 days.

Golden State enters the contest after concluding its three-game road trip 1-2 following a 90-79 loss to the Memphis Grizzlies on Monday. The Warriors now play four of their next five games at home.
