Celtics return home to face Bucks

Nov 7, 2008 - 11:25 AM Milwaukee (3-2) at Boston (4-1), 7:30 p.m. EST

BOSTON (Ticker) -- The Boston Celtics rode defense to an NBA title last season. So far this season, it's business as usual for the defending champs.

The Celtics will look to put the clamps down again when they host the Milwaukee Bucks on Friday.

Boston led the NBA in field goal percentage defense last season and are back at the top five games into the 2008-09 campaign, holding its opponents to 37.6 percent shooting.

The Celtics were in top form on Wednesday, completing a three-game road trip with a 96-83 victory at Oklahoma City. Boston held the Thunder to 37 percent shooting (31-of-84) en route to taking two out of three on its first road swing of the season.

Kevin Garnett, Ray Allen and Paul Pierce combined for 55 points and 26 rebounds in the win and are once again carrying the team.

The Bucks have won two straight, taking out the New York Knicks at Madison Square Garden on Sunday and earning a 112-104 overtime win against the Washington Wizards on Wednesday. Richard Jefferson went off for 32 points and nine assists in that contest.

Star guard Michael Redd missed the game with a sprained left ankle and is questionable for Friday's tilt.
