Happy to be home, Kings host Timberwolves
Nov 7, 2008 - 11:22 AM Minnesota (1-3) at Sacramento (1-4) 10:00 p.m. ESTSACRAMENTO, California (Ticker) -- A return home is exactly what the Sacramento Kings needed to break into the win column.
The Kings go for back-to-back victories on Friday when they host the Minnesota Timberwolves.
After opening the season with four straight losses on the road, Sacramento returned to Arco Arena on Wednesday and outlasted the Memphis Grizzlies, 100-95, for its first win of the new campaign.
Kevin Martin led the way for the Kings, pouring in 33 points, while John Salmons added 21 and nine rebounds. Sacramento shot 53 percent from the field and played strong defense, limiting the Grizzlies to 44 percent shooting.
The Kings play five of their next six games at home and are hoping to get a boost from the return of center Brad Miller, who is expected to be back in the lineup after completing his five-game suspension for violating the NBA's drug program by failing his third drug test because of marijuana use.
The Timberwolves are coming off a heartbreaking 129-125 double-overtime loss to the San Antonio Spurs on Wednesday. Al Jefferson had season-highs of 30 points and 14 rebounds for Minnesota, which has lost four straight since claiming a season-opening 98-96 victory against the Kings.
