Clippers trying to avoid seventh straight loss

Nov 9, 2008 - 7:23 AM Dallas (2-3) at LA Clippers (0-6), 3:30 p.m. EST

LOS ANGELES (Ticker) -- The Los Angeles Clippers hope to stop falling when they host the Dallas Mavericks on Sunday.

One of two winless teams in the league, the Clippers are off to their first 0-6 start since they lost the first 17 contests to open the 1998-99 campaign. The Washington Wizards (0-5) are the other team without a victory.

The Clippers have dropped four games at home, including Friday's 92-83 setback against the Houston Rockets.

Newcomer Baron Davis and Chris Kaman each scored 23 points for the Clippers, who are scoring a league-worst 84.2 points per contest.

Dallas is off to an inconsistent start, alternating losses and wins.

Dirk Nowitzki scored 23 points and Jason Kidd had 22, 10 rebounds and nine assists during the Mavericks' 108-105 loss at the Denver Nuggets on Friday.

The Mavericks have won the last six meetings between the teams.
