Nets may be without Harris as they visit Heat
Nov 10, 2008 - 5:25 AM New Jersey (2-3) at Miami (3-3), 7:30pm ESTMIAMI (Ticker) -- As the New Jersey Nets try to get back to the .500 mark, the health of their offensive catalyst is still up in the air. If their last two games are any indication, that could play a major factor.
Point guard Devin Harris will be questionable Monday night with a sprained left ankle as the Nets visit the Miami Heat in an Eastern Conference clash.
Harris rolled the ankle late in the third quarter of Friday's 103-96 victory over the Detroit Pistons, but that didn't stop him from completing a breakout, 38-point performance as the Nets snapped Detroit's four-game unbeaten streak.
The next night, swelling in the ankle prevented him from taking the floor against the Indiana Pacers, and the result was a 98-80 loss. Harris' status for the next few games still is unclear, and the team will take it day-to-day. Without him, the Nets may have trouble dealing with the red-hot Dwyane Wade, who is averaging 30.7 points, 7.7 rebounds, 8.3 assists and 3.0 steals this season.
With Wade's return, the result has been a revitalized Miami attack on both ends of the floor. The Heat picked up a pair of impressive wins over the Philadelphia 76ers and San Antonio Spurs before falling to the New Orleans Hornets in a tight contest Saturday.
The Heat lead the NBA in steals at 10.8 per game and are forcing a league-high 18.2 turnovers overall.
