Home games not helping Warriors overcome woes

Nov 11, 2008 - 3:02 PM Minnesota (1-5) at Golden State (2-5) 10:30 p.m. EST

OAKLAND, California (Ticker) -- The Golden State Warriors can't hide their struggles at home.

The Warriors try to avoid a third straight loss on Tuesday when they host the Minnesota Timberwolves.

Golden State has stumbled out of the gate due to the offseason departure of Baron Davis to the Los Angeles Clippers, combined with several problems within the team. Forward Al Harrington has asked for a trade and guard Monta Ellis has filed a grievance against the team after he was suspended for the first 30 games of 2008-09 for violating his contract after suffering an injury in a moped accident during the offseason

In addition, Warriors team president Robert Rowell fired assistant general manager Pete D'Alessandro on Friday and replaced him with assistant coach Larry Riley. The firing was the latest chapter of the ongoing saga between Rowell and vice president Chris Mullin, whose job is in jeopardy after a number of high-profile disagreements with the team president.

Golden State, which went 27-14 at Oracle Arena last season, is 1-2 at home in the new campaign and has surrendered an average of 106 points in its first three games there.

However, the drama within the Warriors' organization shouldn't stop the team from getting back to .500 at home against the Timberwolves, who haven't earned a win since a season-opening 98-96 victory against the Sacramento Kings.
