76ers look to right ship vs. Raptors
Nov 12, 2008 - 11:24 AM Philadelphia (2-5) at Toronto (4-3) 7:00 p.m. ESTTORONTO (Ticker) -- With the big-time offseason acquisition of Elton Brand, the Philadelphia 76ers were supposed to become a force in the Eastern Conference.
They will look to just get out of last place in the Atlantic Division when they take on the Toronto Raptors on Wednesday.
Much of the early struggles can be attributed to the offensive end, which has been wildly inconsistent.
In its two wins, Philadelphia is averaging 120.5 points a game and a margin of victory of 31.5. But the 76ers have averaged just 84.6 points a game and have not broken 90 in any of their five losses.
A career 20-point per game scorer, Brand is averaging just 14.7 per contest. The 76ers have been led by Thaddeus Young's 16.5 points.
Jermaine O'Neal enjoyed his best game with his new team, collecting 23 points and 11 rebounds in a 94-87 loss to Boston on Monday.
The same can not be said for Chris Bosh, who was held to season-lows of nine points and seven rebounds. Bosh is still averaging 24.1 points and 10.4 rebounds a game.
The Raptors have lost three of four after opening the season 3-0.
