76ers look to move to .500 against Thunder
Nov 15, 2008 - 11:22 AM Oklahoma City (1-8) at Philadelphia (4-5) 7:00 p.m. ESTPHILADELPHIA (Ticker) -- After an ugly 2-5 start and an even uglier first quarter against Indiana on Friday, the Philadelphia 76ers may finally be rounding into form.
The 76ers will look to even their record at 5-5 when they take on the lowly Oklahoma City Thunder on Saturday.
Philadelphia entered this season with plenty of hype following the offseason acquisition of Elton Brand, but stumbled out of the gate.
They entered Friday's contest in search of back-to-back wins for the first time, but spotted the Pacers a 22-2 lead and trailed by as many as 26 before staging a late rally to win, 94-92.
While Brand continued his early season struggles, shooting 4-of-17 for 15 points, Thaddeus Young scored a season-high 25 points and Andre Miller added 19, including the go-ahead basket to give the 76ers their first lead at 92-90 with 2:47 left.
The Thunder's early season futility continued in a 116-106 loss to New York on Friday, a game in which they allowed 68 first-half points to trail by 24 at the break.
Oklahoma City staged a rally of its own behind 23 points from Kevin Durant and 19 from rookie Russell Westbrook, but fell short in dropping its sixth straight.
