Timberwolves hope to snap slide

Nov 15, 2008 - 11:22 AM Portland (5-4) at Minnesota (1-6), 8:00 p.m. EST

MINNEAPOLIS (Ticker) -- Things do not seem to be going much better in the second rebuilding year for the Minnesota Timberwolves.

Minnesota will try and snap a six-game losing streak when it hosts the Portland Trail Blazers on Saturday.

In their second campaign after trading Kevin Garnett, the Timberwolves are still struggling to find their way.

After losing 34 of its first 39 games last season, Minnesota has not won since its season opener and has dropped four of the six games by four points or less. The Timberwolves lost at Golden State, 113-110, in overtime on Tuesday.

Al Jefferson is averaging 22.1 points and 10.7 rebounds to lead Minnesota.

Portland had its four-game winning streak snapped on Friday, dropping an 87-82 decision to the New Orleans Hornets.

Rookie Greg Oden provided a bright spot, however, recording 11 points, 11 rebounds and four blocks in 24 minutes off the bench. The 2007 top overall pick had just three points and five rebounds in 29 minutes over his first two contests.

The Blazers won the first meeting this season, 97-93 on November 8 after sweeping the four-game season series last season.
