Spurs look to pull even vs. lowly Clippers
Nov 17, 2008 - 3:18 PM San Antonio (4-5) at LA Clippers (1-8), 10:30pm ESTLOS ANGELES (Ticker) -- The San Antonio Spurs may be in the midst of an early season struggle - but they've got nothing on the Los Angeles Clippers.
The two sub-.500 teams square off on Monday night at the Staples Center as the Spurs try to even up their record and extend their winning streak to three games.
San Antonio has stumbled over the season's first month thanks in large part to ankle injuries suffered by star guards Manu Ginobili and Tony Parker.
But the Spurs, who have pulled out back-to-back two-point wins over Houston and Sacramento, can get back to the .500 mark with a win over the lowly Clippers, who have won only one of their nine games this season and have struggled offensively with new point guard Baron Davis.
Signed to a lucrative long-term contract this past offseason, Davis is shooting just 37 percent this season for a Clippers team that averages a paltry 89.9 points per contest.
Los Angeles looks to bounce back from Saturday's 121-103 loss to Golden State, Davis' former team.
Davis scored 25 points and dished out 11 assists to pace the Clippers, who allowed the Warriors to shoot over 51 percent from the floor.
