LOS ANGELES (Ticker) -- For the first time this season the Los Angeles Lakers will find out how they respond after a loss.

Los Angeles hopes to bounce back from its first defeat of the season when it hosts the Chicago Bulls on Tuesday.

The Lakers were defeated, 106-91, by the Detroit Pistons on Friday, ending their best start in seven seasons.

Kobe Bryant scored 29 points to lead the Lakers, who scored 100 points for the first time this season.

Chicago is opening up a seven-game road trip after going 3-2 on its recent homestand.

The Bulls won their last two games at home, including Saturday's 104-91 victory over the Indiana Pacers.

Rookie Derrick Rose had 23 points and eight assists in the win and the top overall pick is averaging 18.9 and 5.6 this season.

The Lakers swept the two-game series last season, which included a 106-78 victory on their home floor.
