Shorthanded Jazz try to survive against Grizzlies

Nov 22, 2008 - 11:18 AM Utah (8-5) at Memphis (4-8) 8:00 p.m. EST

MEMPHIS, Tennessee (Ticker) -- The uncertainty continues for the Utah Jazz. They don't know when Deron Williams will finally return to the starting lineup. They don't know how long Carlos Boozer will be out. They don't know if they can win on the road.

They will get the answer to at least one of those questions Saturday when they travel to Memphis to take on the Grizzlies.

Williams remains out with a sprained left ankle that has limited him since the preseason, while Boozer injured his left quadriceps on Wednesday and was out Friday against the San Antonio Spurs. The Jazz need their two Olympians back as soon as possible, as they're a paltry 2-5 on the road.

Both the Jazz and Grizzlies could use a chaser after a pair of miserable performances that were all too familiar. Utah lost its 21st consecutive game in San Antonio and it wasn't even close, as the Spurs stormed ahead with a huge second half en route to a 119-94 victory.

Meanwhile, Memphis fell to the Dallas Mavericks for the 16th consecutive time. Dirk Nowitzki scored 25 points and Jason Terry added 20 off the bench to deal the Grizzlies their fifth loss in six games. The Grizzlies shot just 37 percent in a losing cause.

The Jazz have won six of the last seven meetings with the Grizzlies.
