Let’s take a look at Saturday’s NBA slate to find some First Basket prop winners.

Sacramento Kings at Los Angeles Clippers

The Clippers and Kings square off in this west coast matinee. Looking for First Basket prop winners, I lean towards Clipper players. They’ve been hot cashing this prop in seven of their last ten, compared to the Kings, who have only done so in three of ten. The full-season numbers tell a similar story.

When it comes to the Clippers, there are two players that stick out the most. The first is Ivica Zubac. He’s been a double-double machine and has been on one of his hottest stretches of the season. He’s also been cashing First Basket props at a pretty good rate. A matchup with a Kings team that won’t provide much defensively makes this a solid play.

Another play I’m looking at here is Marcus Morris. He’s been the Clippers’ go-to guy for these spots often this season. Recently he’s scored the first Clipper field goal in six of the last ten games and in 11 of the 20 games he’s started on the season. He’s worth a sprinkle here, even if Paul George and Kawhi Leonard play.

Houston Rockets at Golden State Warriors

Both these teams play Saturday on the second night of a back-to-back. That will mean you may have to monitor the starting lineups for this game as regular starters may rest. That said, I will be targeting Andrew Wiggins for First Basket.

Houston has struggled in most aspects of basketball this season and scoring the first basket has been one of them. It just makes sense to target a Warrior player against a team like the Warriors that is scoring the first field goal at a 68.2% clip.

The Warriors have been really hot at cashing this prop recently, and no player has been better at doing so than Wiggins, even with all the star power in the lineup. Wiggins has scored the first Warrior field goal in 35% of his starts on the season and cashed the First Basket prop in 30%. At that rate, he’s a pretty good bet.
