Cavaliers bring balanced attack vs. Knicks

Nov 29, 2006 - 2:47 PM New York (5-11) at Cleveland (9-5) 7:00 pm EST

CLEVELAND (Ticker) -- Although LeBron James is having a monster season, he has been getting a lot of help from his teammates.

After three days off, the rested Cleveland Cavaliers look for their seventh straight home win against the New York Knicks on Wednesday.

Zydrunas Ilgauskas had season highs of 18 points and 15 rebounds and the Cleveland Cavaliers got a big effort from their bench as they rallied for a 108-95 victory over the Philadelphia 76ers on Saturday.

The Cavaliers' reserves scored 38 points. Damon Jones continued his strong play with 12 points, Anderson Varejao added 11 and Sasha Pavlovic eight - all in the first half, when Cleveland was struggling to find offense.

However, as always, James was spectacular. He overcame a slow start to collect 25 points and 11 assists for Cleveland, which erased an early 13-point deficit and snapped a two-game losing streak. The superstar forward is averaging 27.6 points, 6.8 rebounds and 6.8 assists per game this season.

Eddy Curry had 24 points and eight rebounds for the Knicks, who shot 48 percent (33-of-69) in a 101-85 loss to Chicago - their second straight defeat to the Bulls. David Lee had 14 points and 11 rebounds for New York, starting for the injured Channing Frye, who has a sprained ankle and will miss three to six weeks.

Cleveland has won its last two games against New York, including a 102-96 victory at Madison Square Garden on November 13. Jones hit seven 3-pointers and scored 29 points in the contest.
