Paul, Hornets host Suns

Dec 3, 2008 - 3:05 PM Phoenix (11-7) at New Orleans (9-6) 8:00 p.m. EST

NEW ORLEANS (Ticker) -- Chris Paul has scored at least 40 points in a game three times in his young career. A fourth 40-point effort might be in store on Wednesday.

Paul and the Hornets go for their fifth win in six games when they host the Phoenix Suns.

The 23-year-old point guard was named Western Conference Player of the Month for November on Monday.

Paul, who also received the honor twice last season when he logged each of his previous 40-point performances, is averaging 20.3 points and 5.7 rebounds while leading the NBA in assists (11.6) and steals (2.8) per game.

Paul had 16 points but committed five turnovers as New Orleans had a four-game win streak snapped during a 101-86 setback against the Portland Trail Blazers on Friday.

He should get back on track against the Suns, who have allowed two 40-point performances during their last two games - both losses.

After Dwyane Wade poured in 43 points to lead the Miami Heat to a 15-point victory against the Suns on Friday, Devin Harris scored 21 of his 47 points in the fourth quarter as the New Jersey Nets rallied for a 117-109 triumph on Sunday.

The Suns are 7-2 on the road this season.
