Top 3 NBA Betting Odds, Picks & Predictions: Friday (12/9)

Dec 9, 2022 - 2:49 AM

After a few rocky days, we finally got back to our winning ways on Wednesday, as the sinking Suns were the only side that let us down. After a quiet Thursday, we’re back with another full Friday slate, and I’m dialed in on three games I think there is some value remaining on.

Let’s dive in.

YTD Record: 30-33-3 ATS

DraftKings NBA Playoffs

1. Knicks -5 (-110)

The Knicks come into this game on a much-needed two-game winning streak, more importantly, they have buckled down on defense allowing both teams less than 90 points. On the season, they now are top 10 in the league in defensive FG% and 3PT%, as Tom Thibodeau has this team continuing to give effort on a nightly basis on both ends of the floor.

For the Hornets, Terry Rozier finally got going this week, scoring 29 points in their 116-122 loss to the Nets on Wednesday. The loss, their third in five games, continued to highlight the Hornets’ lack of defensive effort of their own. Now allowing more than 115 points per game, I don’t expect them to keep up with the surging Knicks in this one.

2. Pelicans +2 (-110)

Two teams heading in opposite directions will square off Friday night in New Orleans, as the Pelicans will look to defend their home floor for the sixth time in six tries. Coming into this game on a five-game winning streak, the Pelicans sit atop the Western Conference standings in large part thanks to a defense that is in the top 10 in the league in all major categories.

For the Suns, Wednesday night’s loss to the Celtics was their most recent in a string of bad losses, coming into this one having lost three of four. Their lack of defense has been the issue, allowing 122 points or more in all three of the losses.

While the injury bug continues to plague the Suns, look for the Pelicans to steal another one.

3. Bucks/Mavericks Under 223 (-110)

In the late marquee game of the night, two teams who feel they have all the pieces to win now will square off when the Bucks head to Dallas. Coming into this game having won sox of their past seven, the Bucks have once again been getting MVP-level play from “The Greek Freak”, who has now scored 30 points or more in eight straight games.

The Mavs feel confident in their own MVP candidate, however, as Luka Doncic has 30+ in seven of his last 10 games. In this one for me, however, the value lies in both of these teams being amongst the best in the league defensively.

Averaging just 108 points per game each coming into this one, I think we see this one stay under the total.
