Clippers, Grizzlies battle at bottom of conference

Dec 5, 2008 - 11:24 AM LA Clippers (3-15) at Memphis (4-14) 8:00 p.m. EST

MEMPHIS, Tennessee (Ticker) -- The Los Angeles Clippers may be struggling to find wins, but at least they are competitive. The same can not be said of the Memphis Grizzlies.

Two of the worst teams in the Western Conference meet on Friday when the Clippers visit the Grizzlies.

Los Angeles, which is just in front of the Oklahoma City Thunder for last place in the conference, has dropped two of its last three games. However, those contests were decided by a total of four points.

After enduring a one-point loss to the Denver Nuggets on November 26, the Clippers outlasted the Miami Heat, 97-96, on Saturday to earn their third win.

Los Angeles came up just short again on Tuesday, suffering a 100-98 setback to the Dallas Mavericks, who held the Clippers to just one field goal over the final five minutes of the contest to steal the win.

The Clippers should continue their competitive streak against Memphis, which lost its seventh straight game on Wednesday, 105-95, against the Atlanta Hawks.

It was the fifth time during their losing streak that the Grizzlies have lost by at least 10 points. Memphis' closest contest during its slide was a 111-103 loss to the lowly Oklahoma City Thunder on Saturday.
