Clippers, Timberwolves both aiming to end droughts

Dec 6, 2008 - 11:18 AM LA Clippers (3-16) at Minnesota (4-14) 8:00 p.m. EST

MINNEAPOLIS (Ticker) -- The Los Angeles Clippers and Minnesota Timberwolves are enduring yet another dismal season.

The good news for these teams is that one of their current losing streaks will end on Saturday when the Clippers host the Timberwolves in a matchup of two of the worst teams in the Western Conference.

Los Angeles claimed only 23 wins in 2007-08 and appear destined for a similar finish this campaign.

The Clippers suffered their third straight loss and seventh in eight games on Friday, dropping a 93-81 decision to the Memphis Grizzlies, who snapped a seven-game losing streak.

Baron Davis scored 23 points and added eight assists but it was not enough as Los Angeles committed 17 turnovers and grabbed only 25 rebounds, their fewest since pulling down 25 during a five-point loss the Utah Jazz on April 4, 2004.

The Timberwolves, who finished with 22 wins last seasons, hope Los Angeles' futility continues when they attempt to snap a four-game slide.

Following a 106-97 setback to the Denver Nuggets last Saturday, Minnesota failed to earn a win on its three-game road trip, losing each contest by at least 10 points, including a 113-84 drubbing by the New Jersey Nets on Friday.
