Rockets vie for third straight win

Dec 8, 2008 - 2:19 PM Houston (13-7) at Memphis (5-15), 8:00 p.m. EST

MEMPHIS, Tennessee (Ticker) -- The Houston Rockets seem to be adjusting to life without Tracy McGrady.

Houston goes for its third straight win when it visits the Memphis Grizzlies on Monday.

The Rockets have won three of the last four games without McGrady, who is expected to miss at least two more weeks with a knee injury.

Yao Ming had 33 points and 14 rebounds and Ron Artest added 28 points as Houston thrashed the Golden State Warriors, 131-112, on Friday. The 131 points were a season high.

Memphis has lost eight of nine and is coming off a 106-87 setback to the New Orleans Hornets on Saturday. The Grizzlies were outscored, 37-16, in the first quarter.

Rookie O.J. Mayo has been a rare bright spot for Memphis, leading the team in scoring at 21.1 points per game.

Houston has won the last four meetings between the two teams.
