Blazers visit Jazz after enduring first home loss

Dec 11, 2008 - 11:29 AM Portland (15-8) at Utah (14-9) 10:30 p.m. EST

SALT LAKE CITY (Ticker) -- After a heartbreaking loss at home, the Portland Trail Blazers are heading back on the road.

The Trail Blazers look to bounce back from their first loss at the Rose Garden when they visit the Utah Jazz on Thursday.

Portland posted a 4-1 record on its recent Eastern Conference road trip and were poised to continue that success at home on Tuesday. The Blazers had each of their first seven games at home to start the campaign.

However, the Orlando Magic scored the final nine points of the game and Hedo Turkoglu capped the run by hitting an off-balance 3-pointer with three-tenths of a second left as the Blazers endured a 109-108 loss.

Brandon Roy scored 30 points and LaMarcus Aldridge recorded his fourth double-double, recording 25 points and 13 rebounds.

Despite the absence of Carlos Boozer, who was inactive due to a strained left quad, the Jazz managed to escape with a 99-96 victory against the Minnesota Timberwolves on Tuesday.

After trailing most of the second half, Mehmet Okur hit a 12-foot jumper off one foot with 1.1 seconds remaining to give Utah a 97-96 lead.

The Timberwolves called a timeout and inbounded from midcourt but the pass by Rashad McCants was stolen, and Deron Williams made two free throws with seven-tenths of a second on the clock to seal the victory.
