Lakers eye fifth straight victory
Dec 19, 2008 - 2:13 PM LA Lakers (21-3) at Miami (12-12), 8:00 p.m. ESTMIAMI (Ticker) -- The Los Angeles Lakers go for their fifth straight win when they open up a four-game road trip at the Miami Heat on Friday.
After winning the first five contests away from the Staples Center this season, Los Angeles is 2-2 in its last four road games. The Lakers lost at Sacramento, 113-101, on December 9.
Since that defeat, the Lakers have reeled off four consecutive victories, including a 116-114 triumph against the New York Knicks on Tuesday.
Kobe Bryant scored 28 points and Lamar Odom had 17 and 12 rebounds for the Lakers, who trailed by 15 at the break. Los Angeles played without Pau Gasol due to flu-like symptoms.
On the heels of a season-high, four-game winning streak, Miami is on a season-high, three-game losing streak after Monday's 98-83 setback to Milwaukee.
Dwyane Wade has struggled over the past three games, averaging 17.7 points on 34 percent (19-of-56) shooting. He had 15 points on 5-of-16 from the floor against Milwaukee.
