Travels not limiting Mavericks' success

Dec 26, 2008 - 11:23 AM Dallas (17-11) at Utah (17-13) 9:00 p.m. EST

SALT LAKE CITY (Ticker) -- Playing away from home is not slowing down the Dallas Mavericks.

The Mavericks continue their latest three-game swing Friday when they visit the Utah Jazz.

After posting a 2-1 record during an East Coast trip, Dallas briefly returned home for a game against the Memphis Grizzlies.

Dirk Nowitzki led the way with 21 points as the Mavericks topped the Grizzlies, 100-82, on Tuesday. Jason Terry added 17 points and Jason Kidd dished out 11 assists.

Nowitzki scored 24 of his 30 points in the first half, pacing the Mavericks to a 102-94 victory against the Portland Trail Blazers on Thursday in the opener of yet another trek.

The Trail Blazers held a 90-87 lead with 6:30 to play, but Kidd's 3-pointer started a 12-2 run, capped by consecutive dunks from Brandon Bass, giving Dallas an insurmountable 99-92 lead.

Nowitzki looks to continue his recent success against the Jazz, who have dropped back-to-back games following consecutive wins.

After enduring an eight-point loss against the Chicago Bulls on Saturday, Utah suffered a 94-86 setback to the Milwaukee Bucks in the finale of a five-game road trip on Tuesday.
