Cavaliers hope to bounce back against Hawks
Dec 1, 2006 - 1:52 PM Cleveland (9-6) at Atlanta (6-7) 7:30 pm ESTATLANTA (Ticker) -- The Cleveland Cavaliers are playing down to their competition.
After a disappointing home loss to the lowly New York Knicks, the Cavaliers will take on the Atlanta Hawks on the road Friday.
LeBron James scored 27 points but was tentative at times in the Cavaliers' 101-98 loss on Wednesday to the Knicks. Drew Gooden scored 16 points and Zydrunas Ilgauskas added 12 and 12 rebounds for Cleveland, which has six losses - five to teams below .500.
Joe Johnson scored a season-high 36 points, including 22 in the second quarter, as the Hawks opened a big lead and held on for a 99-90 victory over the Bobcats on Thursday.
Tyronn Lue scored 25 points and Josh Smith added 10 and 13 rebounds for the Hawks, who had lost two straight and seven of their last eight games.
Atlanta won the first contest between the teams, 104-95, at Cleveland on November 7.
