Bucks eye first win at Phoenix since 1987

Dec 1, 2006 - 2:08 PM Milwaukee (5-9) at Phoenix (8-6) 9:00 pm EST

PHOENIX (Ticker) - The desert has been an awfully dry place for the Milwaukee Bucks over the years.

The Bucks try to snap a startling 18-game losing streak here Friday when they hook up with the Phoenix Suns for the first of two times this season.

Milwaukee's slide at Phoenix is the second-longest active road losing streak in the NBA. Denver has dropped 19 consecutive contests in Sacramento.

The Bucks have not won here since February 21, 1987, but they at least enter the matchup with some momentum after snapping their 10-game slide against the Los Angeles Lakers with a 109-105 victory on Tuesday.

Michael Redd put together a stellar all-around game with 45 points, eight rebounds, five assists and four steals. Mo Williams contributed 22 points and Charlie Bell added 14 for Milwaukee, which had lost eight of its last 10 games.

Phoenix has won five in a row and seven of eight since getting off to a 1-5 start this season. The Suns' latest victory came on Wednesday, a 102-91 triumph against Houston, behind Amare Stoudemire and Shawn Marion, who combined for 35 points and 27 rebounds.

Steve Nash chipped in 17 points and Leandro Barbosa 14 for Phoenix, which also has been better defensively of late, allowing fewer than 94 points in three of its last four games.
