Timberwolves desperate to snap home skid

Dec 29, 2008 - 3:13 PM Memphis (10-20) at Minnesota (5-24), 8:00 p.m. EST

MINNEAPOLIS (Ticker) -- It's been a while since the Minnesota Timberwolves sent their own crowd home happy.

Minnesota will try and snap a nine-game home losing streak when it hosts the Memphis Grizzlies on Monday.

The Timberwolves have not won at the Target Center since a 102-96 triumph against the Philadelphia 76ers on November 19.

One contest after snapping a 13-game losing streak, Minnesota was trounced at home, 118-94, by Orlando on Saturday. Rashad McCants led five players in double figures with 21 points in the loss.

Memphis has dropped five of its past six and is just 2-12 on the road this season.

Rookie O.J. Mayo scored 29 points as the Grizzlies lost, 106-103, in overtime to the San Antonio Spurs on Saturday.

Mayo will have a chance to show Minnesota what it could have had as the game will mark the first time the two teams meet since the draft-day trade. The Timberwolves sent Mayo, the No. 3 pick, to the Grizzlies for Mike Miller and rookie Kevin Love, who was drafted fifth.
