Knicks, Pacers brace for high-scoring battle

Jan 2, 2009 - 11:09 AM Indiana (10-21) at New York (12-18) 7:30 p.m. EST

NEW YORK (Ticker) -- People interested in fast-paced, high-scoring basketball need look no further than the New York Knicks and the Indiana Pacers.

The Knicks and Pacers will attempt to outscore each other when they square off on Friday.

New York leads the Eastern Conference in scoring at 104.3 points per game while Indiana ranks second at 102.3. But scoring isn't the only thing the two teams do well.

Both the Knicks and the Pacers also allow points at an alarming rate, ranking first and second, respectively, in the Eastern Conference in points allowed.

New York tried something different at Charlotte on Tuesday, when it beat the Bobcats, 93-89. The win snapped a six-game losing streak, during which the team allowed an average of 115.5 points.

The Knicks limited the Bobcats to 43 percent shooting and forced 19 turnovers.

Indiana has lost four in a row, allowing 107.75 points per game. The Pacers fell to the Hawks, 110-104, on Tuesday despite 25 points from Danny Granger.

Granger ranks fifth in the NBA in scoring at 24.9 points per game.
