Struggling teams meet when Timberwolves host Warriors

Jan 2, 2009 - 11:10 AM Golden State (10-24) at Minnesota (6-25), 8:00 p.m. EST

MINNEAPOLIS (Ticker) -- After a pair of winning seasons, the Golden State Warriors have fallen on hard times. The Minnesota Timberwolves also know a little something about that.

A couple of squads going through difficult seasons clash Friday when Golden State visits Minnesota.

The Warriors have lost nine of their last 12 games, including Wednesday's 107-100 setback to the lowly Oklahoma City Thunder. Kelenna Azubuike scored 24 points off the bench to lead Golden State, which has dropped four straight on the road.

Minnesota, which hasn't made the playoffs since the 2003-04 campaign, is in the midst of its second straight horrid season.

The Timberwolves have not won back-to-back games all season and blew a 29-point third quarter lead on Tuesday in a loss at Dallas.

Minnesota led, 70-41, early in the third quarter but collapsed as Dallas rallied for a 107-100 victory.

Al Jefferson scored 21 points in the loss for the Timberwolves, who are 3-12 at home this season.
