Spurs look to even the score vs. Heat
Jan 5, 2009 - 2:41 PM San Antonio (22-11) at Miami (18-14) 7:30 p.m. ESTMIAMI (Ticker) -- Two months ago, the San Antonio Spurs faced the Miami Heat in a contest that the former would just as soon forget. Not only did the Heat deal the Spurs one of their most lopsided losses of the season, but they also sidelined star point guard Tony Parker.
The Spurs get a chance to even things up in the final game this season between the two squads, as they head to Miami to take on the Heat.
In the aforementioned November 7 meeting, Dwyane Wade scored 33 points and Parker went down with an ankle injury en route to a 99-83 Miami victory. Parker was out for the next three weeks, but has regained his prior form of late.
The former NBA finals MVP knocked down a buzzer-beating rainbow from the right baseline to beat Philadelphia on Saturday, giving San Antonio its seventh win in eight games. He leads the club at 21.5 points and 6.8 assists per contest.
The Heat, meanwhile, have won their last five games against Western Conference opponents. They have won six of eight overall, with their only losses coming to the high-powered Cleveland Cavaliers and Orlando Magic.
On Saturday, the Heat were taken to overtime by the New Jersey Nets before finally prevailing, 101-96.
