Howard, Magic aim for 10th straight home win vs. Wizards
Jan 6, 2009 - 3:20 PM Washington (7-25) at Orlando (26-8) 7:00 p.m. ESTORLANDO, Florida (Ticker) -- Dwight Howard looks to overcome his free throw-shooting woes and lead the Orlando Magic to a 10th straight home win on Tuesday against the Washington Wizards.
Howard has been dominating this season, averaging 20.1 points, 13.5 rebounds and 3.5 blocks in helping the Magic to the top of the Southeast Division.
Nicknamed "Superman" for his high-flying dunks, Howard has his own special form of kryptonite - free-throw shooting. The reigning Slam Dunk champion is shooting a career-worst 56.9 percent from the line.
Howard matched a career high with 39 points, but went just 11-of-18 from the stripe in a 108-102 loss to Toronto on Sunday.
Despite Howard's struggles from the line, the Magic have won nine of 11.
Meanwhile, Washington owns the worst record in the Eastern Conference, but is coming off an 80-77 victory over Cleveland on Sunday. Antawn Jamison led the way with 26 points and 13 rebounds.
